War (and Writing) Are Hell

Charlie Sheen’s character in “Platoon” defined hell as “the impossibility of reason.” Jean-Paul Sartre wrote in a play that, “Hell is other people.”

They’re both wrong.

Hell is switching back and forth between Chicago Manual of Style for writing novels, and AP Style for writing blog posts.
